Atherton and Centenary Cups

This week has neem another busy one on the golf course with the Atherton Cup and Centenary Cup. Don't forget to book your place for the Airbourne competition this saturday.

Captains Reign on Downs

Eastbourne Downs enjoyed ideal conditions for the Atherton Cup Mixed Greensomes in which Club Captain Roger Geering and Ladies’ Captain Nicky Reeves continued their recent good form to come out on top with 39 points. Husband and wife, Barry & Julie Wooler were second with 36 pts followed by Teresa Archer & Kevin Elphick in third on 34 pts.

Family Affair in Centenary Cup

The men’s Centenary Cup was played in less favourable conditions in Sunday’s rain and wind but attracted a large field, nevertheless. This turned out to be a family battle between father and son, Nick and Louie Highfield, to top the leaderboard. Son, Louie prevailed and lifted the trophy with a nett 70, the only below par score of the day. Father, Nick finished 3 shots adrift on 73 with Kieran Reidy a further 3 shots adrift on 76 and taking 3rd place on countback from John Lynch, Phil Manser and Will Fairbairn.
