Joining a golf club can seem daunting and sometimes intimidating. At Eastbourne Downs we've made sure our joining process is as simple as possible - whether you already know people at Eastbourne Downs or know no one - we'll ensure you get a warm and friendly welcome. As a CASC registered club, we're committed to making sure golf is accessible to everyone.
OAs a registered CASC, all sections of the community are welcomed and have the opportunity to become members of the club.In keeping with our commitment to operating as a compliant CASC any individual wishing to join the club, who is registered on a low income, should contact the Secretary for more information.
Follow our guide to joining our Club and sign up today.
Step 1: Come and get to know us.
Signing up to any golf club is a commitment. Before you do, we want you to be sure you want to join us and recommend you pop into see us, take a tour of our facilities and try out the course. We suggest you phone first to speak to either Terry our Golf Professional, or Caroline in the Office to give you the tour and arrange a complimentary round on the course.
Visit the other pages in this section to find out more about members benefits and what you can expect from a golf club.
Step 2: Commit to Join
When you decide to join we ask is that you commit to a 12 month membership (with the exception of Academy membership). Remember we are a members golf club which means the club is non profit and run for the benefit of it's members. This means you get a say in how it is run and ask this same commitment from all members.
Step 3. Complete our application form
Download the application form below, complete it and either e-mail it to us or better still pop in and see us. You do not need a proposer or know anyone before you join. Once you're a member you'll soon get to know plenty of other members..
Step 4. Payment
OK, you knew this was coming.... Unfortunately we do ask for a subscription - sadly running a golf course is not cheap! We'd love it to be but there you go - modern times. Once we receive your application we'll issue you with an invoice to confirm your subscription. We also have to add on English Golf and Sussex County Golf association fees. You can either pay in full or sign up for our easy direct debit scheme, spreading the cost over the term of your membership. This does however attract an administration charge of 4.5%.
If you wish to pay by direct debit please complete the direct debit form which will be included in your invoice and membership pack. Please also remember that we do need you to honour the 12 month agreement and that fees are not refundable (sorry).
Step 5. Confirmation
Once we receive payment or the direct debit is set up, we will confirm your membership and you can start using the facilities and get out on the course. You'll be introduced to the Club Captain at a welcome meeting (which finalises the membership process), and receive your welcome pack. This will include your membership card which will give you discounts at the bar and enable you to enter competitions.
We will register you for the members area of our website so you can gain access to the members resources and start receiving regular news and updates.
Step 6. Enjoy
Make the most of your membership and get involved. There are plenty of competitions week in, week out. There are also plenty of social groups during the week and weekends who are always welcoming. Find out where all the notice boards are as part of your tour.
Remember as a member you don't need to book a tee time to play, simply turn up with your sticks and get going. There are though a few times when we hold competitions and other times when the tees are reserved. Most of these should be shown here on the website
Make the most of Terry (our Golf Professional) and make sure you book an assessment with him to help improve your game.
If you need to know more simply ask Terry, Lorna or Sandra. Use the contact form or call us.
