Rain Fails to Dampen Eastbourne Downs

The recent wet weather has failed to put a dampener on golf at Eastbourne Downs with the course remaining in excellent condition.

The seniors enjoyed a break in the weather for the Terry Marshall Turkey Trot when there was a large field for what turned out to be a very closely fought contest. Three players in the same group topped the leaderboard on 38 points each with countback being required to separate them. Rasoul Shahilow came out on top thanks to his third shot on the last hole finding the cup from about 75 yards for a 4 points birdie. Brian Goodbody finished 2nd with Tony White 3rd.

There was also a good turnout for the November Stableford which was closely contested in all three divisions. Top in Division 1 was Kevin Elphick on 39 points with Neil Allan (38) in 2nd place ahead of Phil Manser (38) on countback. The best score of the day was returned by Simon Burke with 41 points to take the honours in Division 2 ahead of Peter Featherstone (39) with John Boniface (36) taking 3rd spot on countback from Geoff Pack (36). First in Division 3 was Stephen Martin (38) just in front of Richard Noakes (37) and Jeffrey Harris (36).
